Overview
When adding a network printer to a Mac computer you receive a pop-up saying "Unable to verify the printer the printer on your network". "Unable to connect to <ip address> due to an error. Would you like to create the printer?" Not communicating to PS or PCL printer correctly with standard protocol. Issue found with some Lanier/Ricoh printers.
Prerequisites
A Macbook.
Resolution
- Click cancel in the pop-up menu
- Click protocol drop down menu
- Select HP jetdirect - socket
