Keys Being Backed up to Personal Microsoft Account
- https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey
- Login with your personal Microsoft account (more than likely is the Microsoft account that is used to log into the computer).
- If there is an MFA prompt, approve it or submit a code.
- Look for the latest OSV (Operating System Volume) key for the device.
- Verify that the key ID matches the Recovery Key ID on the blue screen.
- Input the Bitlocker recovery key.
Note: If ITSC asks you for the key because it's in hardware repair, please send them a clear screenshot or text version of the Recovery Key via email.
Other Microsoft Accounts
- If none of the keys are found in either account, try to remember if someone else assisted with the setup of the computer and see if they have a copy of the key.
- If you are a transfer student, try any other Microsoft account from a previous educational institution using the 1st option above using that email address and password.
