Overview
This article is for a person who needs to enable WiFi or Personal Hotspot on the cellular device.
Prerequisites
A cellular device with Hotspot as a service.
Note: Ferris smartphones have WiFi Hotspot as a service. If you do not have a Ferris phone, consult with your service provider.
Resolution
Jump directly to your phone type: Android iPhone
- Drag down from the top of the phone.
- Click on settings (the Gear icon).

- Open “Connections”.

- Open Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.

- Tap on Mobile Hotspot (but not on the on/off toggle – that’s on the next screen).

- Toggle Mobile Hotspot on.

- Record the Network Name and Password to be used on devices connecting to the Hotspot.
- Your mobile hotspot is now ready to be used.
- Remember to turn Mobile Hotspot back off when done as it increased power usage and will drain your battery.
- To turn Mobile Hotspot back off, follow the same procedure except in step 6, toggle the hotspot off.
- Open Settings.

- Select Personal Hotspot.

- Select Allow Others to Join

- Hotspot will have the same name as your phone. Record the Wi-Fi Password to be used on devices connecting to the Hotspot.
Note: To get your phone's name, go to Settings --> General --> About. The phone's name will be the top item in this display in the section entitled "Name".
- Your mobile hotspot is now ready to be used.
- Remember to turn Mobile Hotspot back off when done as it increased power usage and will drain your battery.
- To turn Mobile Hotspot back off, follow the same procedure except in step 3 toggle the hotspot off.
