Need help logging in to your Ferris accounts? This article will walk you through the steps to set up your account, reset your password, or unlock your account. MFA is a security feature that requires more than one method of authentication to verify a user's identity.
Prerequisites
This article applies to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Emeriti.
To log into your Ferris account you must have the following:
- Your computing ID
- A valid password or passphrase (16 characters long)
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled and setup
- Know the minimum password requirements
- Know the banned passwords

If you forgot your password or if you remember your password but you simply wish to change your password, open the Password Assistance Tool to change your password to access your Ferris resources.
Video: How to Reset Your Password
- Enter your Ferris email address and the letters from the captcha.
- Select I forgot my password. Use this option if you don't remember your password or can't get logged into your email or Ferris360.
- Select the contact method you’d like to use for verification, provide the information requested and click the blue button below.
- Enter the verification code you receive from the contact method you chose and click Next.
- Enter a new password twice and confirm.
- Success! You can now get back into your account (You may have to wait a couple of minutes if logging in doesn’t work right away)
- If you are assigned a Ferris Owned device and on campus, please log in using the new password to recache your credentials.
- If you are assigned a Ferris Owned device and off campus, please follow this guide on how to resync your password
Note: This will not work if your account was compromised, and IT Services reset your account. Please call the IT Solution Center at 231.591.4822 for assistance if this does not work.

- Open the Password Assistance Tool.
- Enter your Ferris email address and the letters from the captcha.
- Select I know my password, but still can’t sign in.
- Select the contact method you’d like to use for verification and provide the information requested.
- Enter the verification code you receive from the contact method you chose.
- Microsoft may ask you to do an additional method that was listed in step 4.
- Success! You can now get back into your account with your current password.
