Fixing Issue for Text Messages Not Received or Sending While Connected to Ferris WiFi

Tags WiFi Cellular

Overview

When on Ferris campus and with a cell phone connected to Ferris WiFi, if the cell also has WiFi Calling enabled, text messages might not send or be received. This has been tested by multiple users with multiple phones and has been found to be a consistent issue and a consistent resolution.

Prerequisites

A cell phone connected to Ferris WiFi with WiFi Calling enabled.

Resolution

Warning! While this resolution may resolve the issue with SMS and MMS messaging, it may also decrease your voice call quality while on campus due to some campus locations having low available cellular signal strength.
Note: The directions provided here are generic for each type of phone. Exact processes may vary depending on make and model of phone and the current OS level on the phone. Please see your phone manufacturer or OS producer for exact details for your phone make/model/OS.
